The masthead of this magazine ‘Blender’ is very bright and colourful, making it the first thing you see when you look at the front cover. The genre of this music magazine is pop and making title a very striking colour really reinforces the stereotypes of pop. The cut in the masthead goes with the name. It suggests that the magazine will include a mixture of artists and music genres which will attract large quantities of various audiences.
For the main image on this front cover they have chosen to use Leona Lewis as she is known worldwide and people would be able to recognize her easily. In the photograph she is biting her finger which is quiet a promiscuous gesture which makes it appealing to a large number of males. Many believe that Leona Lewis is a very pretty female and some aspire to be like her especially because of the way that she was brought up. Coming from a normal background and now known worldwide as a singer makes people relate to her and believe that if she can do it coming from where she does than so can they. In the image she is wearing a plain dress, this may have been done to give more attention to the additional cover lines but also it has been done as the overall theme of the front cover is plain suggesting it is more sophisticated aimed at an older audience. Carrying on with the simplicity the background is white drawing more attention on Leona.
Leona Lewis’ which is the main cover line used in this article is in bold making it stand out and eye-catching which draws the audience’s attention. As it is the main article in the magazine it is put on the front so audiences are able to see it when they look at the magazine.
The additional cover line includes a quote of what’s going to be included in the magazine. This is an unconventional technique as this is what most gossip magazines do. Nonetheless it’s a very good way to hook in the audience. They cover lines of what else is going to be in the magazine ids done so that when audiences look at the magazine they see what additional features the magazine will have prompting them decide whether or not they want to read on.
